Nutty Organic Apple Cereal

I have read the ingredients of every single packet and box of cereal. None of them work for our family. None. All of the regular ones have additives and sugars and gluten and maize and ... you get the idea.
All of the health-food isle ones have brown rice or quinoa in them. All big no-no's for us.

So what do I feed my kids who's intolerances and allergies list are longer than my legs?

Nutty Apple Crumble.

{This is my slightly-altered-to-fit-our-diet-requirements version of Wholefood Simply Better than Muesli recipe. Many, many credits and thanks goes to them. They helped pave the way to a better breakfast option for us!}

In your food processor... pulse, so it doesn't turn to mooosh.

Throw in handfuls and pulse as you go:

One cored and quartered Apple
Almonds (raw and hulled for us)
Coconut flakes
Sunflower seeds
White Chia Seeds
a bit of Vanilla Powder

{Use Organic produce every step of the way}

Was very yummy!

I ate all of mine, the kids ate a little of theirs. They said it was yummy so I'll take that as a good step towards eating a whole bowl. Tomorrow I think I'll roast it a little! yum!

Why Buy Organic Apples?

Because apples usually rank number 1 on every "dirty dozen" list I've seen!
Pesticides cannot be trusted once ingested. Some pesticides are designed to make bugs stomaches explode. No, it wont make your stomach explode {we hope!} But it doesn't mean tiny little bug-size explosions wont happen in your intestines causing permeability... just sayin'

So many people I know, or know of, turn to organic food once they have health challenges, cancer, allergies, intolerances, unknown sicknesses, IBS, gut disorders.... How about we start BEFORE the big health scare happens?

Why buy organic?
     -Because you are worth it.

Roast Chicken-Lickin and Veg

I could spend hours making a gourmet meal that tastes divine and looks delish, but the kids would no doubt turn their noses up to it and go to bed hungry. This little roast dish- takes all of about 3 minutes to prepare, looks rustic and loved and without a doubt, be gobbled up without a second thought.

I love a quick and easy meal. Plus barely any dishes! Can I suggest this for your dinner tonight?

Roasted Chicken- Lickin and Veg

In one oven pan:
Roughly chopped veggies {Carrots, celery onion}
Roughly chopped herbs {Rosemary and Thyme- fresh from my garden}

Plonk the chicken {organic, free range} on top of the herbs and veg

Put in your oven for about an hour (depending on size and weight etc)
I do 180deg celsius for about 45mins.

Slice down between the Chickens legs and body to check if its cooked
or poke skewer in it to see if the juices run clear.

Simple accompaniment of Roast Spuds.

Wash the dirt off your organic Spuds... err Potatoes {Cloth and running water}

Place on a baking tray and put it in the oven at the same time as the chicken.
Your knife should slip straight through when cooked.

Eat eat!

I don't even bother with oil or salt when I cook this, it's scrummy on it's own. And with food sensitive little ones, the less ingredients the better.

The potatoes, make sure they are served with lashings of butter and Himalayan rock salt.

Return to Peace

Slowing down
Calming breaths
Normality here we come

For the first time in a while, this week has felt normal. Normal is a relative word. My normal doesn't look like your normal, nor could it ever (unless your my husband reading this or my kids- Hi Babe!!). If we all had the same normal, we would be... robots.

*Cue Milla: I am a robot, I am a robot*

What has happened? Let's do a list format to get this over and done with.

Broke a leg,
Weekly X-rays,
Fracture healed,
Sprained the same leg,
Bilateral grommets,
Coeliac/gluten intolerance,
Bone Density scan,
Dietician appointments,
Pyrroles urine test,
I had a biopsy for coeliac, no damage seen. Praise God!
Milla hearing test (which she aced)
Milla gluten/dairy free trail, a success.

I think that's it? Who cares really if there was anything else! Ha! Too much to think of as it is.

So! Been there, done that, bought the crutches.
Moving on!

Who is ready for Christmas??

I am so ready for making stuff!

Oooo!  I should also mention some of Bloggy's upcoming changes!

Bloggy Blog Bloggity.

Newly Antique is proud to announce it will not only be a crafty little centre for wood-working-upcycled-fun.  It will become a little safe haven for my allergy friendly recipes, food intolerance/allergy information and general health, coeliac, well being and holistic health reviews, organic and green living.

Phew! Did you get all that??

I originally was going to start a different blog to cater for the new areas, but then I realised that Newly Antique is where it's at. My life has grown to embrace a new area, where I spend 10 hours in the kitchen and therefore bloggy will too.

Partnering with Newly Antique... strolling hand in hand along the beach is my other Facebook page:

In case you've forgotten what we look like!

Much love!!!
