Easy Gift Wrapping for a 2 Year Old

It's Phoenixes 2nd birthday on Tuesday, which means it is also his best friends birthday. Who coincidentally is my best friends son. Memphis is four hours older that Phoenix, we had no idea this would happen!

1. I was 2.5 weeks early and she was 10 days overdue and induced.
2. Same hospital
3. 4 doors apart from each other
4. 4 hours apart
5. Named our kids similar

Fun! It was so good to go through the newborn stage with someone who was experiencing the exact same things at almost the exact same time.

Memphis is having his Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party tomorrow and Phoenix picked out a "Cars" present for him. I thought about letting Phoenix wrap it, but he was too tired to want to do anything crafty today and it would be an interesting wrap to say the least! Milla would do a good job but she also needed a nap today... both have fevers. Boo to that :(

Easy Wrapping for a 2 Year old

I thought about doing a proper wrap, fully covered with sticky tape and all, but really, this gift is for a two year old who will get lots of gifts to unwrap during the day so why not make this one easy for him to have a sneak peak into, get excited and then easy to unwrap?

Needed:
Gift bag
Pipe cleaners
Glue and googly eyes optional but super cute!

Essential craft items to always have on hand.

Twist some pipe cleaners, first around the gift bag handle and then spiral around your finger.
Pull out some loops in the middle to make bug wings, maybe some little loops at the front to make ears

Glue on some googly eyes.

You could make any creature you wanted.

Simple gift bag with boy bug deco. (A little hard to see from a distance)

Ta-Dah!
Close up of Mr Bug and a sneak peak of Memphis' gift. I love that he can easily see in it and get excited by what's inside.

Project: Pallet Wood Shelves

Spring has sprung! I have seen the teeniest tiniest green leaves sprouting from my winter bare trees! Spring has only been here for a few days and we have already made a trip to Bondi Beach. Granted we spent more time investigating the local streets than on the beach due to the wind. It was picking up the sand and blowing it too much to enjoy sitting and enjoying the sunshine. Oh well, it's the start of many trips I am sure.

Saturday naps... even Molly joins in.

While everyone was asleep or next door playing with the neighbours, I decided that enough was enough! It's time to start working again. This silly back pain can just go away, I am too busy for it ha!

Project: Pallet Wood Shelves!

Oh it felt good to get out the tools again. Jigsaw, power saw and hammer...

Still have a lot left of this one.

Pulling out the old nails

Equal timber lengths ready to go.

--Into The Laundry--
I removed a corner shelving unit that got broken a while back and have had to put up with all my laundry products all over the kitchen table or shifted onto the floor in the laundry and then back to the kitchen. Today I had to do something about it!

I got some lovely black brackets from Bunnings, measured my pallet wood and cut it all to size (pictured before). I have left it raw because I adore the look of it.

I got the spiral brackets so I can tread a pole through it if needed to hang spray bottles.

3 Pallet Wood shelves up and ready to go!
Shocking lighting. I'll take a better photo tomorrow during the daylight.

Next things to change: light fixture (Those new energy efficient light bulbs are too big for the old light covers!) and change the taps over the sink to something a little more industrial.

Happy Fathers Day!

To all the Daddies in the world... Happy fathers day!!

You have an amazing responsibility in your hands. Tread lightly :-)

In the midst of everything you do, take a moment to look into the eyes of the ones who make you daddy. Even for a moment and see.

See.

It's so important to stop and see. It's not about the job, routine, parenting style, blah blah. It's about those eyes and that little heart. See that face like your looking at it for the first time all over again.

We love you, we love you, we love you!!

And to my very own husband. My best friend and father of my children.

I love you!! We love you. You are the very best!!

Rozelle Markets

Our family spent the whole day at the markets today, the best markets I've ever been too! No Nanna knitted tea towels in sight! Ha! Amazing. Plenty of antique china, furniture, trinkets, pocket watches, beautiful masquerade masks and vintage hipster clothing.

Phoenix fell in love with a Buzz plush doll action figure (cause doll is such a girly word) that once acquired would not or possibly, could not, be pried from his Toy Story obsessed hands. Because we love him and it was about 4 hours passed his nap time. Yeah you guessed it. I parted with my $5 and he is currently asleep cuddling his beloved Buzz Lightyear.

About 6 hours later we emerged with a few little treasures. 2 tired children and 3 tired adults went across the road and had the healthiest vegetarian and organic lunch and then made the journey home.

Phew. Two large soy lattes later...

Amazing how a great day can be so exhausting! The kids were asleep by 6:30pm and by 8:30-- I thought it was midnight!!

We drove through the end of a rainbow on the way home! (a double rainbow too!)
It's definitely a rare opportunity! Didn't find that gold though?!

Over the bridge was a perfect rainbow, you could see where it landed on both sides.

A great end to a lovely family day.
